Location, Location, Location
Seasonal winds do shift. Our chime might do better in one spot during the winter and another in the summer. Try hanging it in different locations during different times of the year.

Size it up.
Shop chimesWhen hanging the chime from a building or something similar, aim to hang it where the wind can reach it even if it switches directions. For example, perhaps a corner would work best on your house.

Getting the most out of your wind chime
Shop chimesHang it from the ring or hook at the top of the chime (don't add length with rope or wire, etc.) The reason is that extra length can cause the entire chime to swing when the goal is to have only the striker move.

Taking care of the tubes
Shop chimesEvery now and again, wipe down with a soft cloth and if necessary, use a mild soap like dish soap mixed with water. Often, water is enough to clean the tubes.
-
Keeping chimes functional for a long time
Shop chimesWind - keep your chime sheltered from the full force of those winds. This could be under an overhang or in a full-sized tree for example. Storm - as with any outdoor decoration, if you know a storm is coming, bring it inside. Winter – protect it by putting it in the shed or garage.
